Literacy Volunteers of Rhode Island is making a difference.

Literacy Volunteers believes that well-trained and supported volunteers can be effective tutors of adults. We provide free, individualized, student-centered instruction in basic literacy and English language skills. We are committed to addressing the issue of low literacy skills among adults here in Rhode Island. Our programs bring lasting results and life-long change to adult learners.

• We support a network of five affiliates throughout the state by providing funding,
  tutor recruitment and training, advocacy, professional development and technical
  skills training.
  
• We serve as a statewide clearinghouse for literacy information and referrals
  and for adult literacy programs.
  
• LVRI offers company-based worksite programs to help employees improve their work-related literacy and English skills.
